Backpacks 4 VIC Kids

Founded in Victoria in 2014, our purpose is to provide quality-filled crisis packs and gift packs for vulnerable children, aged from birth to seventeen years. Our mission quickly expanded in response to requests for children in crisis, to bring comfort, ease anxiety, and restore dignity.

Originally our core program, My Essentials (ME) Packs, provided material aid to children entering foster care but grew to include all types of out-of-home care, secure facilities, and emergency accommodation. Often children are relocated quickly without much more than what they are wearing. We now deliver five programs supporting children in crisis – School Essentials (SE) Packs, Christmas 4 Kids in Care (C4KiC) Program, Youth Outreach (YO) Packs, and Disaster Relief (DR) Packs.

Programs are developed in response to identified community needs, often in consultation with child welfare workers and out-of-home carers, and in line with available resources.

Programs are designed to meet the needs of recipients and prospective recipients. Most often, children’s services, emergency and social support services workers distribute the material aid B4VK provides.

Backpacks 4 VIC Kids is an incorporated association, registered as a public benevolent charitable organisation holding Deductible Gift Recipient status and Tax Concession Charity.
