Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) provides health care equality, for all Queenslanders, wherever they are in our vast and beautiful state. Queenslanders with the toughest jobs and the most challenging lives, often live in the most remote, rural, and regional areas of Queensland.

RFDS founder, the Reverend John Flynn, dreamed of overcoming the “tyranny of distance” by using aircraft, to provide emergency and primary health care to people living out west, but he didn’t have the money to get the idea off the ground.

That all changed with a gift in will!

The Flying Doctor took to the air when long-time supporter, Hugh McKay, left Flynn a gift in his will. That very special gift was used to lease our first aircraft back in 1928.
